Estimate your AI agent

Currency and pricing model

USD reflects custom builds for global and mid-market scope. INR reflects packaged builds for Indian small and mid-sized businesses, which have a narrower scope.

Agent complexity
Channels

If nothing is ticked, the estimate assumes website chat only.

CRM, ERP, booking engine, calendar, payments, ticketing, internal APIs.

Human-approval workflow

Indicative estimate β€” not a quote. Ranges reflect typical market pricing for the scope you selected, not a commitment from Next Olive.

How we calculate

The calculator is deliberately simple and fully transparent. Each agent type starts from a base range that covers a typical scope, and each selection you make adds a published low and high amount. We add all the lows together and all the highs together, then round the low down and the high up so the range never looks more precise than it is.

ComponentUSD (custom build)INR (SMB package)
Base: FAQ / RAG assistant (web chat, small knowledge base, no integrations)$15,000–$25,000β‚Ή75,000–₹1,25,000
Base: task agent (includes 2 integrations)$45,000–$70,000β‚Ή1,50,000–₹2,50,000
Base: multi-agent workflow (includes 3 integrations)$140,000–$200,000β‚Ή3,00,000–₹5,00,000
Each extra integration$3k–$8k (FAQ), $4k–$10k (task), $5k–$12k (multi)β‚Ή15,000–₹40,000
Each extra text channel (beyond the first)$3,000–$7,000β‚Ή15,000–₹30,000
Voice channel (telephony, speech-to-text, text-to-speech)$12,000–$30,000β‚Ή60,000–₹1,50,000
Knowledge base: medium / large$8k–$18k / $20k–$45kβ‚Ή20k–₹50k / β‚Ή60k–₹1,50,000
Languages: 2–5 / 6+$3k–$8k / $8k–$18kβ‚Ή15k–₹40k / β‚Ή40k–₹1,00,000
Human-approval workflow$5,000–$12,000β‚Ή25,000–₹60,000

The resulting bands line up with the ranges we use elsewhere on the site: task-specific agents at roughly $15k–$45k, reasoning or multi-integration agents at $50k–$150k and multi-agent systems at $150k–$400k+. A large retrieval layer adds $20k–$45k, which matches what a typical production RAG pipeline costs. For the full reasoning behind those bands, read our global AI agent pricing and ROI guide, and for rupee packages see the India AI agent development cost breakdown.

Monthly running cost

Running cost = platform base (hosting, logging, monitoring, vector storage for a small corpus) + conversations Γ— model cost per conversation + channel fees + extra vector storage for bigger knowledge bases. Base and per-conversation ranges by type:

Agent typeUSD base / monthUSD per conversationINR base / monthINR per conversation above included volume
FAQ / RAG assistant$150–$400$0.005–$0.03β‚Ή4,000–₹6,000 (1,000 included)β‚Ή0.5–₹2
Task agent$400–$1,000$0.02–$0.10β‚Ή6,000–₹10,000 (3,000 included)β‚Ή1.5–₹5
Multi-agent workflow$1,000–$3,000$0.08–$0.40β‚Ή12,000–₹25,000 (10,000 included)β‚Ή5–₹20

Conversations are split evenly across the channels you tick. Voice conversations add $0.15–$0.60 (β‚Ή8–₹30) each for telephony and speech processing; WhatsApp conversations add $0.005–$0.05 (β‚Ή0.5–₹4) for messaging fees. A medium knowledge base adds $20–$100 (β‚Ή500–₹2,000) a month of vector storage; a large one adds $50–$300 (β‚Ή2,000–₹8,000). If you want to model token usage in detail with your own provider's rates, use our LLM and RAG running-cost calculator.

Timeline

Base timelines are 3–6 weeks (FAQ assistant), 8–12 weeks (task agent) and 14–22 weeks (multi-agent) for USD custom builds, and 2–4, 4–7 and 8–14 weeks for INR packages. Each extra integration or text channel adds 0.5–1 week, voice adds 2–4 weeks, a medium or large knowledge base adds 1–2 or 2–4 weeks, multiple languages add 1–3 weeks and an approval workflow adds 1–2 weeks. Package timelines scale these additions by 0.6 because the scope is more standardised.

Assumptions behind the numbers

  • Offshore delivery rates. USD ranges assume a senior offshore team at roughly $40–$70 an hour. The same scope delivered by a US-based team at $120–$180 an hour typically costs two to three times as much.
  • Clean data access. Integrations assume documented APIs and test credentials. Legacy systems with no API, screen scraping or heavy data clean-up sit outside these ranges.
  • Evaluation is included. Each base range includes a test set, guardrails and a launch review, because an agent that has not been evaluated is not ready for production. Our guide to AI agent development explains that delivery process.
  • Model choice is flexible. Per-conversation costs assume a mix of efficient and more capable models. Model prices change often, so treat those figures as planning ranges only.

What the estimate leaves out

The ranges exclude third-party licences (CRM seats, telephony numbers, WhatsApp Business provider plans), content writing for the knowledge base, paid security audits and ongoing feature work after launch. Most teams also budget an annual support and improvement retainer; a common planning figure is 15–25% of the build cost a year.

How to use this estimate

Use the low end when your scope is narrow and your systems are well documented. Plan around the high end when integrations are old, data is spread across many tools, or actions carry financial or compliance risk. Before asking any vendor for a quote, write down your use cases, systems and success metrics. Our free AI agent requirements template gives you a structure for that. Then check whether the agent pays for itself with the method in our AI agent ROI and payback guide. A fixed quote replaces this range once the scope is agreed.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this AI agent cost calculator?

It gives an indicative range based on typical market pricing for the scope you select, not a quote. Real costs depend on data quality, how well your systems are documented, security requirements and how much evaluation the use case needs. A fixed quote needs a short scoping conversation.

Why are the USD and INR estimates so different?

They model different kinds of project. USD reflects custom builds for global and mid-market companies, with deeper integration, evaluation and security work. INR reflects packaged builds for Indian small and mid-sized businesses, with a standardised scope, fewer environments and lower delivery overheads.

What is included in the monthly running cost?

Hosting, logging and monitoring, model usage per conversation, vector storage for larger knowledge bases, and channel fees for voice and WhatsApp. It does not include third-party software licences or an ongoing support and improvement retainer.

Does adding a human-approval step really add cost?

Yes. Approval needs a review queue, notifications, audit logging, timeout handling and a clear way to resume or cancel the action. It is usually worth it for refunds, bookings, record changes or anything with financial or compliance risk.

Which input changes the estimate the most?

Agent complexity sets the starting range, and voice and integrations are the largest additions. Each integration needs authentication, error handling, testing and monitoring, so an agent with eight integrations costs far more than one with two.
